Husky Triathletes race the Seafair Triathlon

Today, the UW Triathlon club sent 14 athletes to the Seafair Triathlon at Seward Park. After battling some health issues for the past several months, things have finally been back on track for me recently. I left my house in a carpool at 5am, and we made it to the race site by 5:30 for the 6:30am start. While I was happy with my swim, the bike and run were the most fun part of the triathlon. With 14 huskies on the course, we constantly saw eachother and had the opportunity to cheer each other on. Nothing is able to get you to dig a bit deeper than some cheers from your friends. I finished the day with a PR and AG win, finishing in 12th place out of 352 athletes in the olympic distance race. The best part was, several teammates were very close by. Steven finished 14th OA, Benjamin 22nd and Ross 27th. For the first lap (5K of the run), I had Steven in sight, and we were able to work together for a good part of the second lap. Teresa was the 2nd female in the 20-24 division. Corey, Alex, Nick, Sam, Jonathan all had great races as well. Erik was involved in a crash on the bike, and we are wishing him a speedy recovery.

In the sprint race, Ian took 3rd overall with a PR of 1:07:10, Cecilia was the 1st overall female and Anne took 3rd in the 25-29 division. In the Olympic duathlon, Katherine won her division.
